At Powell Pediatric Care, our team consists of experienced health care professionals and caring staff members who are committed to providing exceptional and compassionate care for children. Our physicians have received advanced medical training in pediatrics and continue to pursue ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest in pediatric health care.
Christopher B. Houts, M.D.
Dr. Houts received his undergraduate training at Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, and his medical degree from The Ohio State University. He completed his pediatric internship and residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Dr. Houts is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association. He resides in Powell where he and his wife, Vickie, raised their three children. He enjoys biking, international pediatrics, and volunteering at free clinics in Linden and Delaware, Ohio.
Michael R. Franks, M.D.
Dr Franks received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Dayton. His interest in medicine began as an undergraduate student while serving as an EMT crew chief on the U.D. Rescue Squad. He graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2000 and then completed his residency training at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Dr. Franks is board certified, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association. His interests include hiking, experiencing new foods and cultures, and teaching children’s bible study. He and his wife, Julie, are blessed to be raising two children.
Laura E. Osthaus, M.D.
Dr. Osthaus completed her undergraduate degree in biology at Kalamazoo college in Michigan in 1991. She received her medical degree in 1995 from the University of Michigan Medical School while enrolled in the U.S. Navy’s Health Professions Scholarship Program. Upon graduation, she was commissioned into the U.S. Navy and did her pediatric residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. From 1998-2001, Dr. Osthaus was an attending physician in pediatrics at Jacksonville Naval Air Station in Florida. In 2001, Dr. Osthaus finished her military service and moved to Ohio with her family. She now lives in Dublin with her husband, Doug McLaughlin, and their three children. Dr. Osthaus is board certified in Pediatrics.
Bomi Omikunle, M.D.
Dr. Omikunle received her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Mississippi State University and her Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2006, completed her pediatric residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) in Columbus, Ohio and spent an additional eighteen months in Infectious Disease sub-specialty training at NCH. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She lives in Columbus with her husband, Akin, and their two daughters. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
Wade W. Wilde, M.D.
Dr. Wilde received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Science in 1989. He completed his pediatric residency at Oakland Children’s Hospital in Oakland, CA in 1992. He also completed a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron, Ohio in 2001. Dr. Wilde is board certified in General Pediatrics, a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Association. He joined the navy in 1985 and served until retirement in October, 2011. He lives in Westerville with his wife and has three grown children. His interests include spending time with his family, hiking, biking and reading.
Sara M. Kelly, M.D.
Dr. Kelly received her Bachelor of Science degree from Youngstown State University and her medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. She completed her pediatric residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she was also a chief resident. Dr. Kelly is board certified in General Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She lives in Powell with her husband, Brian, and their two daughters. She enjoys Buckeye football and spending time with her family.
Deb Howell - Office Manager
Deb was born and raised in the Washington, DC area. After graduating from high school, she went to Vermont for a two week vacation which turned into 13 years. She just could not leave the beautiful scenery. While there, she acquired a BA in Special Education. Deb has been with Powell Pediatric Care since December of 2000. She has seen the practice grow from one clinician to six and has been with us through two moves. She has lived in Powell since 1996 and has been active with the Powell Historical Commission for numerous years. She enjoys going to the gym, gardening, traveling, and most of all, the Outer Banks.
